Choose the mode in the user portal before the session. Both modes use the same authenticated invitation, encrypted endpoint connection and approved Relay route—the difference is who controls USB sharing during the session.
Normal mode
The Client technician keeps the device controls and explicitly shares the intended USB device. The Operator then sees that approved device and attaches it to Windows.

Expert mode
The Client user deliberately delegates USB-session controls to the authenticated Operator. Client becomes a focused activity console while Operator can request sharing and attach the selected device. Expert mode does not grant general desktop or filesystem access.

It does not bypass sign-in, the sealed invitation, endpoint encryption, the explicit Attach action, Guard, Job Safety or audit visibility. A device is never silently auto-attached.

ByteTether is a controlled transport platform. Device compatibility, vendor licensing and operational readiness still matter.
Does ByteTether replace the USB device driver?
No. Install and use the normal compatible Windows driver and vendor software on the Operator computer.
Can the Relay read USB payloads?
The authenticated endpoints establish their own encrypted data path. Relay infrastructure routes those protected frames without reading or substituting the USB payload.
Does every USB device work?
Compatibility depends on the exact hardware, driver, vendor application, transfer behavior, licensing terms and network conditions. Validate the complete workflow before production use.
Is Expert mode uncontrolled remote access?
No. It is an account-selected ByteTether workflow inside the authenticated session. It delegates the USB session controls to the Operator; it does not grant general desktop or filesystem access.
